Online Faculty Development Programme on Operations Management
About FDP Operations Management
Operations management is concerned with the design, management, and improvement of the systems that create the organization's goods or services. It is an important functional area because it plays a crucial role in determining how well an organization satisfies its customers. The key factors for survival and performance excellence in any industry are customer satisfaction and return on investment. This applies to both manufacturing and service sectors. The ideal situation for a business organization is to achieve a match of supply and demand. Having exceed supply or excess capacity is wasteful and costly; having too little means loss of opportunity and possible customer dissatisfaction. The industry should aim for excellence in their performance to survive and excel both in the manufacturing as well as in the service sector.
