The Management Olympics
Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Nagpur hosted Concord ‘18- The Management Olympics from January 12 to 14, 2018. The theme for the third edition of Concord was ‘Building Blocks’. Six main domains of management, namely, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology and Economics were incorporated in management events and activities. This year the event witnessed participation from IIM Raipur, IIM Shillong, NMIMS Mumbai, SIMSREE, Welingkar Institute, SIES, NITIE, FORE School of Management and IFMR.
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Dr Subhajit Bhattacharyya (Director), Dr Jitendra Sharma (Dean, Academics) and the esteemed guests of honour Mr Jai Xavier Prabhu (Managing Director, PRHub IMC Pvt. Ltd.) and Mr Abhishek Gupta (Vice President, Marketing, Edelweiss Financial Services). The guests imparted the students with immense knowledge and expertise about branding, public relations and communication.
The various academic forums of the Institute organised events, which were aimed at testing the practical aptitudes of the participants in the six management domains. xploHRe (The HR forum) conducted a simulation game which challenged participants to think like an HR manager and solve the hypothetical situation. Marque (The Marketing forum) made participants create new brands for various products and design competitive marketing strategies whereas Okonomos (The Business and Economics forum) tested participants on revenue management and budget planning. StrategIT (The Strategy and IT forum) got participants to develop a smartphone and devise strategies to promote the same in different cities. The Finance forum, Finaholics, gave the participants a chance to become real estate investors and invest in lands across ancient India. Cyclops, the Operations forum, created a wartime situation and teams had to optimally manage their resources.
Apart from the league events, the non-academic forums also organised some refreshing events during the three days. Zimfonia (The Music forum) organised a karaoke night to help participants unwind whereas Ovia (The Cultural Committee) celebrated the festival of Lohri, to make everyone feel at home.
When the points were tallied in the end, Team White Collar Crew from FORE School of Management emerged as the overall winners and Team Wayne Enterprises from IMT Nagpur were the runners-up. They were awarded trophies and certificates by Dr Kulbir Singh and Dr Chandan Thakur. Concord 2018 concluded successfully and it was the culmination of constant efforts from students, continuous support from staff and excellent guidance from faculty.
