Shri Mahendra Nath Memorial Lecture
Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur on October 4, 2017 commemorated Memorial Day in memory of Late Shri Mahendra Nath, the Founder Chairman of the Institute. This year, ‘Shri Mahendra Nath Memorial Lecture’ was delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr M. G. Parameswaran, the founder of ‘Brand-Building.com’, a brand advisory firm. He has also served as the CEO of FCB Ulka from 2003 to 2013 and has been contributing articles to premier business publications. Dr Parameswaran has conducted seminars and branding workshops for Indian organizations, MNCs and industry bodies like CII, FICCI, AIMA and has also been an eminent speaker at TEDx.
The event commenced with lighting of the lamp by Dr M. G. Parmeshwaran, Dr Subhajit Bhattacharyya (Director) and Dr Jitendra Sharma (Dean, Academics). Further, the Director addressed the budding managers with his stirring speech on the journey and scuffles of Late Shri Mahendra Nath. He elaborated on the hardships faced by Late Shri Mahendra Nath and how the incidents in his life motivated him to become a millionaire from a struggling businessman, who eventually built the Brand-IMT. Later, the Chief Guest delivered a lecture on ‘Building Indian Brands’ and explained the concept of the Seven Stages that a developing country goes through. Furthermore, he also laid emphasis on changes in brand building over the years.
The lecture was followed by an award distribution ceremony, where scholarships were presented to student managers. The recipients for Merit Scholarships, rank-wise were Aditi Jain, Ananya Senapaty, Rashi Gupta, Nandini Manish Mishra, Pratibha Tikmani and Biswaranjan Mohanty. Ten stream-scholarships were awarded to Aditi Jain, Rashi Gupta, Choudhary Kisalay Akshaykumar, Shubhashlok Dwibedy, Avinash Ramkrishna Mohitkar, Mukund Kela, Ananya Senapaty, Apurva Devendra Paturkar, Bittu Jain and Naveen Joshi. Merit-cum-means scholarships were given to Pratibha Tikmani, Nandini Manish Mishra, Prakash Kumar Behera, Naveen Joshi, Biswaranjan Mohanty, Pragati Murarka, Vineet Sharma and Manish Maskara.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr Jitendra Sharma, marking the end of the successful event. The faculty, staff and student managers, under the supervision of Dr Subhajit Bhattacharyya contributed towards the grand success of the event.
