Dr. Veena Keshav Pailwar is a distinguished Professor of Economics at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Nagpur, with over 30 years of experience in academia, research, and policy-oriented consulting. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pune and an M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge, and has consistently demonstrated academic excellence, including topping her cohorts at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. She has further strengthened her academic and pedagogical expertise through advanced training at leading global institutions, including Harvard Business School, the Indian School of Business, and the Indian Institutes of Management Ahmedabad.
Her expertise spans microeconomics, macroeconomics, international trade, strategy formulation and implementation, financial systems, and applied econometrics, with significant contributions to policy research through her work with premier institutions such as NCAER and NIPFP. She is widely recognized for her innovative and experiential teaching pedagogy, effectively using simulations, role plays, and case-based methods. She has designed and conducted several Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and Management Development Programs (MDPs) focused on experiential learning and participant-centered teaching.
She has also contributed to international and executive education through visiting assignments, including a faculty exchange at the University of Diponegoro, Indonesia, where she engaged with students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, and teaching in the Executive Post Graduate Programme at IIM Raipur.
Dr. Pailwar is an internationally acclaimed case author, with numerous cases published by leading platforms such as Harvard Business Impact, Ivey Publishing, and The Case Centre. Her cases have received global recognition, including multiple best-selling case awards (2025) and commendation by the Financial Times. She has also authored books and published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and policy outlets.
In addition to her academic and research contributions, she has held several leadership roles in academic administration, accreditation, and governance, and is certified for Independent Director positions, reflecting her engagement with corporate governance and strategic decision-making.
