He guided the students that data and insights of the same are two of the most important things to build a successful business and to be able to survive this ever changing market.
The following is an excerpt of an interview with him-
Q1) You recently completed a course on sustainable strategies. Could you enlighten us on how has it been helpful for you and how can it help the student managers?
Ans. Sustainable strategies actually gives a very nice view of what is sustainability. Sustainability is not only about being ecofriendly, it is also about being economic, social and financial friendly. If a company can work on all these three, then it call itself a sustainable company. So, if you can use the resources and materials in an optimum manner without wasting them, that’s a sustainable strategy.
Q2) What is the current scope of 3D printing and how do you see a future shaped by 3D printing? Is printing on a cellular level a remote possibility?
Ans. The possibilities are infinite in 3D printing, from a pin to an airplane everything can be printed, pick up anything and it can be 3D printed, because the material is flexible and can be molded into any shape and size. In India, the only reason the growth is slow is because of the cost of the machinery compared to the cost of labor, but the ROI on a 3D printer is less than 2 months and some of the people in our country fail to realize the same. Hence, the future of 3D printing is good, only thing holding it back is the mentality of the people in our country.
Q3) How has the pandemic changed the market place and what are the trends that are here to stay?
Ans. First and foremost, virtual working is something that is here to stay. Two, digital marketing will be on the front run, which is inbound marketing not outbound. Things which are digital have actually benefited from the pandemic, for example the share prices of Zoom skyrocketed. The pandemic will have a silver lining at the end, once it’s gone everything will bounce back, especially the travel and hospitality industries.
Q4) Being an alum of a prestigious institute that is IMT Nagpur, what advice would you like to give to the student managers, which would help them in boosting their careers?
Ans. MBA as a degree is a sure shot base through which you get an advantage against your peers, but it doesn’t give the guarantee of a sure shot job. So, the following are recommended: Try to find the skillsets which are outside your curriculum, follow your passion for your confidence and stop taking things for granted.
Q5) Since everything these days has moved online, so have our seminars. How was your experience of briefing the student managers at the Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur?
Ans. It has been a very pleasant experience. I’m really very impressed that even though you all are not at the campus, the process was very smooth and the interaction with the student managers was amazing.
