Parikrama – The Mini Marathon
Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Nagpur ushered in the fervour of 72nd Independence Day on August 15, 2018 by conducting its first ever mini marathon, 'Parikrama' organised by the Sports Committee. There were 138 fitness enthusiasts participating in this marathon which spanned across 5 kilometres. The participants were served with healthy refreshments throughout the stretch of the marathon to keep them at their energetic best. Volunteers were stationed every 100 meters along the marathon stretch to take care of the participants and also to encourage them to make it to the 5 kilometer mark.
The winner of ‘Parikrama’ in Boys category was Neeraj Kumar who completed the run within an impressive duration of 18 minutes followed by Abdul Raquib winning the 1st Runners Up trophy and Tushar Sharma making it to the 2nd Runners Up position.The girls put up an equally brilliant performance with Pramiti Matta winning the 1st position followed by Shayeree Bhaumik as the 1st runners up and Ruchika Dadhich as the 2nd runners up. All the winners were felicitated with trophies and cash prizes by Mr D K Sharma (Chief Administrative Officer, IMT Nagpur) and Dr Veena K. Pailwar (Professor at IMT Nagpur).
Hypnotics, the Dance Forum of IMT Nagpur, added to the flavor of the event by conducting Zumba session for the participants. InShades, the Arts Club of the college added to the spirit of Independence Day by setting up a tattoo counter so that the IMT fraternity could get themselves inked with the colours of the national flag.
The event concluded successfully with all the participants and guests expressing their desire of participating in more such marathons in future.
