First Prize Winning Idea – Quibits from Trinity College of Engineering and Research
Every week 1.4 million vaccines are delivered globally. Vaccines are sensitive biological products and need to be stored at (2-8°C) during delivery. According to WHO globally 22 million infants don't receive basic vaccines, 1.5 million children die each year from vaccine-preventable disease with 47% of vaccine wastage during last leg delivery resulting in millions of dollars utilized in revaccination. Nationally 89 lakh children remain at the risk of partial or no immunization with 27% vaccine wastage due to the use of cold boxes. To over this problem they came up with a patent-pending solution i.e. VACSAVER: an intelligent, portable, temp. controlled active refrigeration container for last leg vaccine delivery. The system uses advanced VAR’s cooling technology; PCM integrated with Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (EVIN-IoT) for safe tracking and delivery of vaccines at their full potency as per WHO guidelines.
About Second Prize Winning Idea – Car Swach from IIM Ahmedabad
Every car owner faces one critical problem- the car is not clean enough. Either the car cleaner does not come on time or even if he does, he does not clean it properly. To solve for this, they have created a solution in which the car looks as good as new, everyday. They use a waterless car cleaning solvent which protects the paint of the car and reduces water consumption by ~93%.
About Third Prize Winning Idea – We-Moove from KJ Somaiya College of Engineering
We-Moove is the world’s first open-sourced 3D printed wheelchair mounted robotic arm.
The idea of this project revolves around these basic principles since its inception –
• To be affordable for the masses
• Open-sourced
• Use a 3D printed structure so it can be printed anywhere around the world
• Use only Off-The-Shelf parts.
Using these principles, they set out to design and make a low cost open-sourced arm that someone could mount on the armrests of the wheelchair and the user is able to control it using a simple joystick controller thereby using it to perform their essential daily tasks and decrease their dependency on someone else. With an aim of building a whole host of affordable devices in the field of assistive technology We-Moove aims to help these millions of people gain back their once lost independence and live a truly independent and dignified life.
