The Chair Story.

This story is about a special chair that has witnessed a few phenomenal years of my life. This happened in that age when you step out a teenager’s shows but are not entirely ready to put on the adults’ boots, so you walk about barefoot feeling lost, looking for the right size that will not only fit your inexperienced feet but will also endow the comfort you have looking for.

pic2.“A true friend encourages us, comforts us, supports us like a big easy chair offering us a safe refuge from the world”, so said H. Jackson Brown Jr. and I couldn’t agree more. I feel the same way about my chair. There are no secrets between us. No pretenses or false perceptions either.

Once upon a time not very long ago, I happened to find myself by myself in a strange world. Some said that my time in that world was going to be the life-altering while some said it would be the best years ever and there were still others that cautioned me in my endeavor, asking me to tread carefully – all this, needless to say left me feeling quite apprehensive.

As I entered this mystical realm, I came across an innocent looking chair. It welcomed me with open arms. That was then and this is now. I am on the other side of the journey as of this moment. There have been many days when my humble chair has felt like a swing propelling me towards the idea of infinite possibilities and there have been days that were plain dull and it had doubled over as my ThinkPad, patiently seeing me through my moments of self-reflections until I had discovered myself and found my voice. With great power comes great responsibility, so my chair had gone one step further to triple over as a comforting rocking chair when situations in my life went really south.

My chair has witnessed it all, my whites and blacks in all fairness without a hint of judgment, believing that I will grow out of it one day. However trifle they might be, my chair always lauded my triumphs believing that hopefully it was a stepping-stone to something big.

I have not had many chairs during my do-something life but this story is about a special one that has transformed along with me from a swing to a ThinkPad to a rocking chair. And the best part of this entire journey of transformations is that we don’t have any secrets.
