Living Our Own Dreams

“Dreams are the windows of the soul- take a peek and you can see the inner mechanism, the nuts and bolts.”

We all have a dream, but in order to make dreams turn into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, self-discipline and effort. However, we all don’t have the courage to confront our own dreams. Why? This is basically because of obstacles, broadly three:

Firstly, we have been told since childhood that everything we want to do is impossible. We grow up with this idea and as the years pile up, so do the layers of prejudice, fear, and guilt. And then, there comes a time when our inner calling is so deeply buried in our soul that it seems to be invisible. But it’s still there.

If we have the courage to dream, we are then faced with the second obstacle, love. We know what we want to do, but we are afraid of hurting people around us by abandoning everything in order to pursue our dreams. But, we do not realise that those who genuinely wish us to do well, want us to be happy and are also prepared to accompany us through that journey.

Now, once we have accepted that love is a stimulus, we encounter the third obstacle, the fear of defeat. We, who fight for our dreams, suffer far more when they don’t work out, because we cannot fall back on the old excuse: “Oh well, I didn’t really want it anyway.” We do want it and know that we have put everything on stake. The secret of life is that even if we fall seven times, we get up the eighth time. So, once we overcome the defeats, which we always do, we are filled with the great sense of euphoria and confidence.
