IMT Nagpur’s hugely successful Marquepedia 2011 gets rave reviews
19th November: IMT Nagpur woke up to be a bright and sunny day with a slight nip in the air. It was Marquepedia 2011!
Saraswati Vandana began Marquepedia. It rolled into a flurry of New Age Media activity.
Mr Rajiv Khosla, Senior Vice President, Reliance Communication, North set the tone with an engrossing address on communication style. It has to adapt to the times, yet, the change must always grow from the company’s core values. A very apt example is Cadbury, India. The ads, although very contemporary are always in keeping with Cadbury’s values.
It was time for Mr. R. Nargundkar, Director, IMT Nagpur to address Marquepedia.
Hoots of joy were heard loud and clear when Mr Robin Abraham, Co-Founder, Drizzlin Media took to the stage. He is young, dynamic and most important of all, is an icon they’d like to emulate and an IMT alumnus. He talked about the hottest topic of them all, Social Media. Nothing changes like Social Media does.
Post an hour’s break for lunch, Mr Ranjit Nair, CEO, Germinait made the gathering sit up and listen. His talk was all about the importance of listening right. He gave an amazing demo on explic8 – a software that can be used to analyze qualitative feedback.
Finally, it arrived. The time we had all been waiting for. Baited breath? Some maybe. Expectations ran high. Innogarage’s Mr Aditya KV and Mr Kaushik Shivaswami’s workshop on how social media is being used and abused these days. Examples – national and global were brought up. Effective and memorable ones included Barak Obama’s CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN Campaign, Anna Hazare’s fight against corruption and the Iran elections.
In keeping with the ‘IMT never sleeps’ tag line, the quiz that teased sleepy brain cells into waking, kept the teams charged and making calculated guesses. The two winning teams were Anand Krishnan and Prasoon Jain and Merwin James and Kaavish Kidvai. “It was a very exciting quiz. Even we, as the audience were biting our nails. But the winning team was really good. They knew all the answers,” one student says.
Another, not to be left behind, quips, “Speak for yourself. Even in knew all the answers. Yes, the quiz was loads of intellectual fun.”
“Marquepedia was a fantastic event for me. It was one of the better organized events in IMT, Nagpur. Felt great to learn that social media exists beyond Facebook, Twitter and Youtube,” says Anand Krishnan (PGDM 2010-12), winner of the quiz based on marketing and social media.
20th November, 2011: Day two already. Time really flies at IMT!! It started with a case study analysis. Nine teams presented their take on the Nokia crisis in 2007. Two teams won. First were Pallavi Agarwal and Tanvi Mehta. The second team had Anand Krishnan, Prasoon Jain and Ankita Agarwal.
At 3.00 pm, the volatile workshop began. Again, it had nine teams and each of them had to present their Anti Hazare campaign. The three winning teams included:
1) Shruti Bihani and Esheeta Ghosh
2) Md Shahnawaz Aktar, Syed Shakeeb, Kaavish Kidwai
3) Anand Krishnan and Prasoon Jain
“An Anti Hazare Campaign at a time when he is ruling the roost could ruffle a lot of feathers. But the winning team did it with such finesse that they simply deserved the prize,” says a student, totally bowled over by the arguments the trio brought up.
“Marquepedia 2011 brought insights and inputs from people in the marketing industry. We thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and games. Above all, the event was a very organized one,” observes Prerana Sharma, (PGDM 2011-13).
Marquepedia 2011 concluded successfully.
