IMT Nagpur’s 8th Institute Day Marks a Crucial Milestone
IMT Nagpur celebrated its 8th Institute Day on 26th July, 2011. The 8th anniversary of institute’s foundation was celebrated with gracious presence of renowned management experts, faculty, and students. Inaugurated by Dr. Amitava Bose, the chief guest and Dr. Rajendra Nargundkar, the director, the ceremony was followed with the events including awards ceremony, blood donation camp, and management speech by the renowned management guru, Mr. Sharu S. Rangnekar.
New Delhi, Delhi, India, Tuesday, July 26, 2011 Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur celebrated the occasion of completing eight glorious years of academic excellence on 26th July, 2011. Celebration of the 8th Institute day began with offering of prayers to goddess of knowledge and wisdom, in form of a Saraswati Vandana. Dr. Amitava Bose, the chief guest and Dr. Rajendra Nargundkar, the director lighted the inaugural lamp to set the event get off on the right foot.
Reminiscence of institute’s worthwhile inception on 26th July 2004 was apparent in the first speech of the occasion itself. Dr. Amitava Bose delivered the first Dr. Anwar Ali memorial lecture stating Dr. Anwar Ali’s contribution to the field of education. Dr. Anwar Ali was the first director of IMT Nagpur who led the institute on the path of academic excellence. Dr. Bose also delivered a speech on ‘Long run pulls of inflation’ to offer the audience a detailed insight into the long-term impacts of inflation. Whereas the speech drew the attention of audience, it also provoked a discussion on inflation and economic growth in the country.
The celebration progressed to its next event, award of scholarship, after the thought-provoking and insightful speech by Dr. Bose. The students of the senior batch of PGDM at IMT Nagpur received awards and scholarships for their performances during the academic year. Followed by the awards and scholarships, Prof. S. Chattopadhyay, extended a warm vote of thanks to the guest audience, students, faculty and the chief guest for making this event a success. He also thanked the students and faculty for making the institute recognized by the academic world for its quality.
The Institute Day at IMT Nagpur also witnessed a blood donation camp, infusing benevolence to the spirit for the occasion. This blood donation camp was organized by the institute with a Nagpur based blood bank, Lifeline. A lot of enthusiasm was evident in the youthful students and faculty members for contributing to the society by means of a selfless blood donation.
Students also got an opportunity to interact and learn from Mr. Sharu S. Rangnekar, who is a renowned speaker from the management fraternity inIndia. Mr. Rangnekar has been a popular management author and lecturer in addition to being an immensely experienced management consultant. He is celebrated in the Management world as the writer of two books- In the Wonderland of Indian Manager and In the World of Corporate Managers. He has been instrumental with over 5000 management development programmes inIndiaand abroad since 1966. Dr. Rangnekar’s ‘The importance of soft skills in Business Communication’ brought forth a lot of attention from the audience. Mr. Rangnekar has been popular for his witty humour and couplets adjoining the knowledge he imparts, which helped in making the session highly interactive.
The Institute Day was led to its successful conclusion by Dr. Nargundkar who presented Mr. Rangnekar an IMT mememto as a token of gratitude. As Dr. Nargundkar stated, “On 26th July, 2004, IMT Nagpur opened the gates to the rich tradition of management education. This day is recognized as the day of excellence in academics.” Full of academic festivities, the celebration of the Institute Day became a milestone in the academic journey the Institute has been on since its inception back in 2004.
