Case format:

The case is research based and portraits real life events. It is a description of a particular situation facing an organization and the people within the organization. Cases should ideally have a decision focus. A good case places the reader in a position of having to consider various alternatives and make a decision.

A teaching note relates the situation described in the case to the theoretical constructs in a given field of study. A teaching note indicates the goals and objectives of the case, the courses in which the case can be used, suggestions about using the case in a classroom situation and alternative approaches.

As for a structuring a case, it is recommended to present the case like a story, which has an interesting beginning, suitable background, a middle and a conclusion.

General guidelines :

Abstract, case and teaching note (instructor’s manual) should be submitted as separate documents. Do not place an abstract at the beginning of the case.

The case should have a footnote at the bottom of the first page as under;
__________________________________________________________ This case was prepared by (names of the author(s) and university affiliations) and is intended to be used for class discussion rather than to illustrate either effective or ineffective handling of the situation. Presented to and accepted for the International Case Conference, November 2012, Goa, India.

Case can be typed in single or double line spaced.

Leave sufficient margin (1.0” minimum) on the left side of the odd pages and right side of even numbered pages.

Author(s) are not identified in except on the cover page for the case and the teaching note

Ensure that the pages are numbered

Number the exhibits in the order they are introduced in the case

Short exhibits and tables can be placed as in-text tables
